Happy Independence Day 2012

Happy Independence Day 2012J

Hmmm....a thought from where to start?

Where India did well at Olympics, Guwahati girl molestation still seeks justice (: !

When I moved to southern part of India, I was discriminated on the basis of complexion, communicating in ‘Hindi’ or ‘you have northern attitude’J

After 2 years, when I moved to Delhi, I was discriminated on the basis of southern accent in my Hindi. My addiction of filter coffee was termed as ‘you are a south Indian now’J

Well, what are these terms and their significance – ‘North Indian’ and ‘South Indian’? Who started using these terms and why?

No one other than you and meJ as we have made 4 India(s) rather than one nation - India.

When we were fighting for Independence, the idea was to live in an independent country with pride and dignity. We blame corruption though we are a part of it. We blame India being an over-populated country though we made it one of thoseJ. Any fight is a waste when we have different goals and objectives. The only way we can curb corruption is when we stand united like an INDIAN. My passport shows my identity as ‘Indian’, not ‘North Indian’. I love idlis as much I love parathasJ. I love Telugu as much as I love PunjabiJ.

Read our National Anthem with its meaning to understand the real meaning of ‘Independence Day’. We are born as ‘Indians’ and we should stay united as ‘Indians’ for a better successful country – INDIA. Wishing all Indians – A Happy Independence Day 2012J

National Anthem Lyrics

Jana-gana-mana-adhinayaka, jaya he
Bharata-bhagya-vidhata.
Punjab-Sindh-Gujarat-Maratha
Dravida-Utkala-Banga
Vindhya-Himachala-Yamuna-Ganga
Uchchala-Jaladhi-taranga.
Tava shubha name jage,
Tava shubha asisa mage,
Gahe tava jaya gatha,
Jana-gana-mangala-dayaka jaya he
Bharata-bhagya-vidhata.
Jaya he, jaya he, jaya he,
Jaya jaya jaya, jaya he!

The following is Tagore’s English rendering of the anthem :

Thou art the ruler of the minds of all people,
dispenser of India’s destiny.
Thy name rouses the hearts of Punjab, Sind,
Gujarat and Maratha,
Of the Dravida and Orissa and Bengal;
It echoes in the hills of the Vindyas and Himalayas,
mingles in the music of Jamuna and Ganges and is
chanted by the waves of the Indian Sea.
They pray for thy blessings and sing thy praise.
The saving of all people waits in thy hand,
thou dispenser of India’s destiny.
Victory, victory, victory to thee.

Quotes from Bhagwat Gita: Your Friendship Gift!

I feel so happy and free, when I read some of these quotes from Bhagwat Gita and how it transformed me from a negative person to a positive thought. My husband’s grandmother gave me an English Vesrion of ‘Bhagwat Gita’ that I never felt to read. But for last 3 days, I am reading it and I thought, I should have read it earlier.

I faced the worst of situations and discrimination in last few days. A reason of discriminating me as I am not a biological mother and it is a common mentality of Indian society to discard women on these grounds. I felt hurt and I cried.
But when I walked out into the same society, there was a kajal under my eyes and gloss on my lips. It was possible because of my Chinna Maa and my husband. Chinna Maa (my God Given Mother) asked me to chant Hanuman Mantra when I came across Bhagwat Gita in my library. Few quotes changed me and I wore a smile on my face.
My parents named me, ‘Geeta’ though the same world torn me so many times. But these few quotes that I heard somewhere, sometime in my life made a whole new change for me. This is for my readers as ‘Friendship Gift’ in my birthday month. Wipe you tears and wear a BIG SMILE for me and my postJ. I have started writing my second and last book just because these quotes could help meJ.

BELOW ARE SOME OF THE FAMOUS QUOTES FROM BHAGWAT GITA:

"yada yada hi dharmasya

glanir bhavati bharata

abhyutthanam adharmasya

tadatmanam srjamy aham" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Four verse 7)

"Sri Krishna said: Whenever and wherever there is a decline in virtue/religious practice, O Arjuna, and a predominant rise of irreligion—at that time I descend Myself, i.e. I manifest Myself as an embodied being."

 "paritranaya sadhunam

vinasaya cha duskritam

dharma-samsthapanarthaya

sambhavami yuge yuge" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Four verse 8)

"Sri Krishna said: To deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of religion, I Myself appear, millennium after millennium."

"karmany evadhikaras te

ma phalesu kadachana

ma karma-phala-hetur bhur

ma te sango ’stv akarmani" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Two verse 47)

"Sri Krishna said: You have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of action. Never consider yourself the cause of the results of your activities, and never be attached to not doing your duty."

"na jayate mriyate va kadacin

nayam bhutva bhavita va na bhuyah

ajo nityah sasvato ’yam purano

na hanyate hanyamane sarire" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Two verse 20)

"Sri Krishna said: The soul is never born nor dies at any time. Soul has not come into being, does not come into being, and will not come into being. Soul is unborn, eternal, ever-existing and primeval. Soul is not slain when the body is slain."

"vasamsi jirnani yatha vihaya

navani grhnati naro ’parani

tatha sarirani vihaya jirnany

anyani samyati navani dehi" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Two verse 22)

"Sri Krishna said: As a human being puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones."

"nainam chindanti shastrani

nainam dahati pavakah

na chainam kledayanty apo

na sosayati marutah" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Two verse 23)

"Sri Krishna said: The soul can never be cut to pieces by any weapon, nor burned by fire, nor moistened by water, nor withered by the wind."
Have a great day, Guys!

A Poem For Your Sister

The Importance Of A Sister  - Shiv Sharma

A sister is someone who loves you from the heart,
No matter how much you argue you cannot be drawn apart.
She is a joy that cannot be taken away,
Once she enters your life, she is there to stay.

A friend who helps you through difficult times,
Her comforting words are worth much more than dimes.
A partner who fills your life with laughs and smile,
These memories last for miles and miles.

When she is by your side, the world is filled with life,
When she is not around, your days are full of strife.
A sister is a blessing, who fills your heart with love,
She flies with you in life with the beauty of a dove.

A companion to whom you can express your feelings,
She doesn’t let you get bored at family dealings.
Whether you are having your ups or downs,
She always helps you with a smile and never frowns.

With a sister you cannot have a grudge,
She is as sweet as chocolate and as smooth as fudge.
Having a sister is not just a trend,
It is knowing you can always turn to her, your best friend.

A Poem For Your Brother

I Miss - Salena A. Hayes

I miss you,
I miss the loud music coming
from your room,
I miss the warmth of knowing
You're just a call away,
I miss the way we fought and
played,
I miss seeing your big bright
smile,
I miss getting kicked out of
your room,
I miss seeing you here and
there,
I miss cooking you breakfast
lunch and dinner,
I miss hearing you come in
at night,
I miss making you wear your
seat belt,
I miss holding your hand to
pray,
I miss your smell,
I miss you with all my might,
I miss the way we would fight,
I miss my brother,
I miss my friend,
I miss you I love you and that's
THE END!
