So what is your number of usage of ‘I’?
Before we discuss that we all know about cloud computing. Apple has unveiled an iphone with icloud concept. Again “I”. But how many of us know that behind this “I” there is an effort of many techies and Steve Jobs, a guy who is on medical leave.
Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2003 and had a liver transplant in 2009. In January, he took an indefinite medical leave "so I can focus on my health" -- his second leave from the company in the past two years.
Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook has been running Apple in Jobs' absence. However, Jobs showed up March 2 at the San Francisco launch of the iPad 2, where the stunned audience gave him a standing ovation.
What helped him to reach there? The expectation and determination to provide warmth of blanket “I”. His focus is on I but to provide services to many under this word “I”.
Coming to the exercise and relating to above example, what I meant is goes as....
On an average we use “I” almost 20 times in an hour. So in 3 hours we used it 60 times. If we are awake for 9 hours then 9*20 = 180. So not going by your usage on an average each one of us use “I” almost 200 times in a day. Strange, eh?
Our lives have got centric to “I” and we have forgotten that there is a world beyond the word “I”. We just live to satisfy the word “I” that is ourselves and our loved ones. We fight, we love, we live to sustain the word “I” not the human being who possess this “I”. Whereas the day we understand that beyond this “I” there is a person maybe a soul who can do things for others we will learn what is blanket of “I”.
Blanket of “I” means doing tasks where we provide love and services to many maintaining our identity or “I”. Blanket of “I” means to do tasks for others that is no more “I” centric.
Steve could have taken off from this event but he came to sustain the trust and provide services to many who look up to new launch of Apple. He did everything to promote the effort of many people who are employed at Apple and who worked to bring the company where we find it today. He served tasks maintaining the identity of word “I”.
So today when you use “I”, hope you use it for belongingness and togetherness not for that ego within you.
You will observe one thing after this exercise your frequency to use “I” will reduceJ
