10 Things To Know About Anna Hazare and Jan Lok Pal Bill.....

We cannot be there but we can share the following to support Anna Hazare. Hats off to his determination to fight for all of us. We are proud that we still have people like HIM.

Who is Anna Hazare?
An ex-army man. Fought 1965 Indo-Pak War

 What's so special about him?

He built a village Ralegaon Siddhi in Ahamad Nagar district, Maharashtra
So what?

This village is a self-sustained model village. Energy is produced in the village itself from solar power, biofuel and wind mills. In 1975, it used to be a poverty clad village. Now it is one of the richest village in India. It has become a model for self-sustained, eco-friendly & harmonic village.

Ok,...?

This guy, Anna Hazare was awarded Padma Bhushan and is a known figure for his social activities.

Really, what is he fighting for?
He is supporting a cause, the amendment of a law to curb corruption in India.

How that can be possible?

He is advocating for a Bil, The Jan Lokpal Bill (The Citizen Ombudsman Bill), that will form an autonomous authority who will make politicians (ministers), beurocrats (IAS/IPS) accountable for their
deeds.

It's an entirely new thing right..?

In 1972, the bill was proposed by then Law minister Mr. Shanti Bhushan. Since then it has been neglected by the politicians and some are trying to change the bill to suit thier theft (corruption).
Oh.. He is going on a hunger strike for that whole thing of passing a Bill ! How can that be possible in such a short span of time?

The first thing he is asking for is: the government should come forward and announce that the bill is going to be passed. Next, they make a joint committee to DRAFT the JAN LOKPAL BILL. 50% goverment participation and 50% public participation. Because you cant trust the government entirely for making such a bill which does not suit them.

Fine, What will happen when this bill is passed?
A LokPal will be appointed at the centre. He will have an autonomous charge, say like the Election Commission of India. In each and every state, Lokayukta will be appointed. The job is to bring all
alleged party to trial in case of corruptions within 1 year. Within 2 years, the guilty will be punished. Not like, Bofors scam or Bhopal Gas Tragedy case, that has been going for last 25 years without any result.

Is he alone? Whoelse is there in the fight with Anna Hazare?
Baba Ramdev, Ex. IPS Kiran Bedi, Social Activist Swami Agnivesh, RTI activist Arvind Kejriwal and many more. Prominent personalities like Aamir Khan is supporting his cause.

Ok, got it. What can I do?

At least we can spread the message. How?

Putting status message, links, video, changing profile pics.
At least we can support Anna Hazare and the cause for uprooting corruption from India.
At least we can hope that his Hunger Strike does not go in vain.
At least we can pray for his good health.
Thanks for reading.....

Readers – If you have not got this through FB links or any other source please spread and share through my blog. He is fighting for us!

Happy World Health Day – 2011!

Happy World Health Day – 2011J

Yes, a day I would love to wish everyone a great healthy life J
I will not write about  get yourself regularly checked, eat well...blah blah...I am short of time...Work needs me....
A small message on this day – actually not small...:)
Live your life, Love Yourself and kick out all the worries. We all are born to live not suffer miseries. It is true misery comes for free but for happiness we have to pay a BIG PRICE, really?
You cannot buy happiness. You have to get it by good deeds.
Happiness and Health are like two sides of the same coin called ‘LIFE’.
If you are happy you will always have a sound health irrespective of medical problems. I am the biggest example for manyJ
Just love yourself. If you love yourself, you will love others. If you cannot love others how can you love GOD whom you have never see. Spread Love!
Be kind, Be Lovable, Be Polite, Learn to Forgive and trust me, you will feel so much better and this will definitely keep you healthy.
Do not hold things tightly in life if you want to rise high. Successful people are the ones who have the spirit to fail and then try and keep trying. They are good at forgiving others. Forgive people and this will give you peace. A peaceful mind means a great body and safe health.
If still you feel something is missing in life then look at someone who is posting this for all of you. Someone who knows things as far as health is concerned will not change for her. Someone who lost so many relations and people just because of ‘HEALTH’. But that someone still prays and wish whoever reads this always remain ‘Healthy’. That someone will post this and will leave for work like many others irrespective of the pain and that someone does not know the meaning of pain free life for last 9 years (how is a day when people do not have pain). ..:)
That someone is just 30 and that someone is ME. So get motivated, fight your problems with a smile and take care of your body and mind. I wish everyone a very HEALTHY LIFE (I wish this from the core of my heart). And yes to all my trainees as wellJ
I believe in this - "One who gives up in life dies much before death comes to him"..Never Ever Give Up!

Love You All!
Love Yourself!

Stay Happy and Stay Healthy!
Cheerio!

Chapter 1 - You Need To Read About Aruna!

I am so busy with things that I am just not aware when the day starts and when it ends. But there is one thing that keeps bothering me, I have to write about Aruna.

Why Aruna? Who Aruna?
Lots of reasons to write about Aruna but the biggest is that even after her plea is rejected and this has been one of the major news until March 8th 2011, still many people around me do not know what is it all about? Sad!
She was like one of us and we need to know about her. She is being a part of our country and one example to tell that we as women are not safe in our own home. I do not want to make it a story or a chapter for my readers but I want you all to know who Aruna was and who Aruna is now?

We as citizens of India need to give a better place indeed a safe home to our daughters, sisters, wives and mothers. Aruna is fighting with her tragedy for last 37 YEARS. Sad!

I have complete faith in our judiciary and I respect the decision to cancel her plea but I have one thought that I will post in the last that is 3rd chapter dedicated to Aruna.
I think keep your fiction books aside for a week and grab ‘Aruna’s story’ written by Pinki Virani to know about Aruna. I could not find this book in Hyderabad. But last night, I made the last effort that helped me to get the book. Trust me it is hard to read as it is a real story of a woman who is paying price of being a woman. Sad!
I have promised myself, I will not cry while reading this book as the comments by many readers (online available) tell me that they could not complete the book as either they cried or could not gather courage to read what someone is going through for the last 37 years.
Who was Aruna until 27th Novemeber 1973?
Aruna Shanbaug was working as a nurse at Mumbai's KEM Hospital. She was like any girl who would be dreaming of a new life both professionally and personally. Someone at this age looks herself as a professionally independent woman who has desires to get married maybe to her love and have kids. I hope all my women readers can feel he pleasantness of marriage and motherhood. These are the two dreams of any Indian women.
What happened on 27th Novemeber 1973 and where is Aruna now?
Aruna Shanbaug was working as a nurse at Mumbai's KEM Hospital when on the night of November 27, 1973, Sohanlal Bhartha Walmiki, a ward boy at the hospital, attacked and sodomised her in the hospital basement. The attack left her cortically blind, that means she can see, but her brain does not register the sight. The convicted ward boy was let off after seven years of imprisonment.

As Anuradha Raman notes in a moving article, aptly titled Comma, Period? in Outlook (28-2-11), in a room strictly off bounds for all except those attending on her, Aruna Ramachandra Shanbaug, now 60, lies alone. Her eyes are open and staring vacantly into space. She has been lying in this vegetative way, in the twilight zone between life and death, since the night of November 27, 1973, when she was attacked by a ward boy who tied a dog chain around her neck, cutting off air supply to parts of her brain, and sodomised her in the basement of Mumbai’s sprawling King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital, Parel, where she worked as a nurse. It is said that due to strangulation by the chain, the cortex was damaged and she also had brain stem contusion injury associated with cervical cord injury. Aruna is unable to speak, see, walk or even move voluntarily, though she could still feel the pain. She has been lying in this state with twisted form, rotting teeth and nails growing into her clenched palms, kept alive by mashed food which she automatically swallows.
What is vegetative state?
To know more about ‘vegetative state’ click the link – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persistent_vegetative_state
I could not write more for today. I have taken lot of content with the help of my search around articles that published around her Mercy Killing Plea put forward by her friend and journalist ‘Pinki Virani’. I will post about Pinki and her efforts for Aruna’s plea in the second chapter. Though we all know that the plea is rejected but the third chapter would be around the plea only.
I am overwhelmed so I cannot write more ...................................Few lines
When life is woe,
And hope is dumb,
The World says, “Go!”
The Grave says, “Come!”
-Arthur Guiterman.

Life, which all creatures love and strive to keep
Wonderful, dear and pleasant unto each,
Even to the meanest; yea, a boon to all.
 - Edwin Arnold

Questions to all of my readers –
Just seven years of imprisonment for ruining someone’s whole life is enough?
Is this just sexual attack?

WAIT is OVER....WON the WORLD CUP!

Chaar bhej gaye hain lekin party abhi bakhi hainJ
Networks got jammed and every Indian wants to congratulate the other one. The moment Dhoni
hits the last ball...even before Yuvraj could go and hug Dhoni, people around me started hugging each other. There were no reservations whether we know each other or not. 400 people at a place watching the match since 2 PM had one thing in common – WE ALL ARE INDIANS. I realised the value of the field ‘nationality’ in our passports.
For every Indian it is like – Diwali or Dussera. Getting the cup after 28 years means the world not only to those who played but millions who supported them.
As I posted that history should not repeat itself like 1996 and we should create new history. It actually happened. We are owners of World Cup until the next happens. Our wait is over........
For last 6 years, I have never seen so many people on the roads...celebrating, yelling, boozing and cheering for India. Hyderabad was not less than Italy. I remember seeing something like this when Italy won for the fourth time Football World Cup (FIFA) in 2006 after 1982. The same spirit was seen in every Indian on the roads of Hyderabad. They were celebrating as Indians ...forgetting the State Split....it was a sight of felicity!

The celebrations on streets and fireworks make me feel as if we all are celebrating Diwali.
Congratulations to all my readers and all Indians who are in India (their proud home) and all those who supported India being away from their homeland....The Cup BELONGS to all of us.
We are proud of our team who played with their best skills and efforts.
Chak De India!

Will It Be A Diwali For Indians?...Will India Win?

Buon giorno!

Will It Be A Diwali For Indians?...
Will India win the World Cup?...a question bothering us since we won the ‘Mother of All Matches’ against Pakistan. Saturday morning and I am back from my morning walk. Trust me...there was only topic to be discussed...will India win today?
From kids to 60 year old aunties, everyone was discussing about the match. It was a sight of felicity to admire aunties discussing  strengths and weaknesses of the Indian team other than those usual Radha Krishna Bhajans around the temple area.
World Cup Fever is at its height. I guess all the fingers are crossed and people are just getting ready for today’s match. In my mind, I think of only one thing ‘History SHOULD NOT repeat itself’. I remember – 1996 when Sri Lanka and India both landed to the finals and Sri Lanka won the cup. The very next day we had Social Sciences Board Exam but still none of us missed the match though we were left disappointed :(
I hope we create a new chapter in the history of World Cup and Dhoni gets the cup for us. Mumbai will be remembered for this World Cup, if India wins today. I agree Sri Lanka has performed better than us in this World Cup BUT still you never who wins the last final game....some games work by luck and chance also. ‘Nothing is Impossible’ and I am sure India will play well to win today. I do not want to think or know how deserving is Sri Lanka but we NEED the CUPJ
If we get the CUP it would be like Diwali for IndiansJ
Let us cheer for India!
Cheerio!
