RL Poetry Award 2014 Anthology

Dear Readers  -
This brings a big smile on my face as the RL Poetry Award 2014 Anthology is up!

Out 960 entries, and in the haiku section two Indians were recognised for their work bringing them in top ten finalists list. This includes me as well. The article in the newspaper, and now the anthology of the same - surely means a lot to me. Keep haiku(ing)!

I have got through the international category so it means a lot to me - as an Indian.

Here is the link for quick access. I will post my haiku on my official author page soon!!

Hugs,

Archana

Our First Cheque Comes Home!

It takes me immense pleasure to share the first royalty received for our four successful anthologies. Honestly, more than the fancy title that I hold at Author’s United (AU) –  this first cheque gives me a reason to be really proud of our efforts, and work published so far. We are one FAMILY, and we are growing very fast. I see the growing likes for our page, and that keeps us moving in the right direction. Here is the link to ‘LIKE’ our page of Author’s United (AU).

Firstly, I would like to congratulate Hammad Khan who founded this whole idea of bringing authors of different countries, cultures and genre under one roof – known as ‘Author’s United’.

Secondly, I would like to thank the pilot batch of Author’s United as they showed complete trust in us, and the idea of working for a social cause.

I would like to express my deep gratitude for all those haiku poets who believed in our very first project of Haiku, and contributed their work for the anthology. Not to forget – their contribution and our concept ranked this anthology among the top 100 bestsellers in that category. This was an achievement for AU in itself.

How can I forget to thank all the volunteer editors who worked with us in editing these anthologies? It takes a lot - to design a book, to proofread a book, to write various sections of the book, and above all an error free work for our readers.

AU does not pay to the writers and the editors. Also, AU started the platform with self-publishing tools. This cheque is our belief in the self-publishing tools, and shows our loyalty towards our readers. Good to know – we have not disappointed them!

To mention – AU contributes the royalty received for the social cause. Without your consent – we could not have accomplished this first milestone of social cause. We are planning to start the social cause wing of AU, and will be soon sharing it with AU family and readers.

Amitie

My shoulder got strained and after physiotherapy - I am better now.

I want to finish the painting as it will be my first painting for the launch of kalasutra Volume 2016. This painting is very special to me. I name it as Amitie (Friendship in French).

I just completed the base colours. Time is to paint the background. Then I will start the mural and gold foil work. At last - the grain embossing. I will take more than a month as it is a huge canvas this time.

I talk to Lord Ganesha as and when I walk from a room to another. I read the book -'Conversation with God'. Though I couldn't relate to the content then but - today things are different in my life.

Quick Writing Updates

My FB memory triggered an amazing memory for me.

I wrote this post a year ago. I am happy to enjoy the first anniversary of 'A HAIKU PER DAY'.

I don't write erotic stuff...;) but a haiku if mine is shortlisted for an Erotic Anthology. I don't know how but all the editors loved it. I wrote a Erotic haiku????

After the third place in 13th Indian Kukai Contest - the journey is more appreciable with my haiku to be included in Italian Haiku Association (IHA Anthology).

Four Indian haiku poets are selected in this category that includes me as well.

This was an amazing year for me as a writer.

And my submissions are almost complete. I am getting all the responses now for my work. I have added three more journals to the list of the journals where my work can be read - A Hundreds Gourd, Chrysanthemum and Frozen Butterfly ( this is an audio journal so you will be able to listen to my voice as well :)). Yet to be go live.

I am collating the list again and will upload for my readers.

Also I think I forgot to share the haiku published at Whispers in the month of September, 2015. Thanks for all the inspiring comments. Here we go -

Ganesha......

The day comes to an end but it was such a wonderful day - birthday of Lord Ganesha. My favourite God.... <3.

The name 'Ganesh' reminds me of so many things, and whew....nothing....more.

I read few good articles. I was watching 'The Holiday' - a famous romantic comedy. I felt to Google to plan a solo vacation....lol!

This is amazing. I was watching 'The Holiday' (famous romantic comedy featuring Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz). I felt like I want a solo vacation to a place where people speak only French!!

Lol, I do not know what all about French but have heard indeed have been to Paris in 2005 - more than perfumes and museums...maybe more than French men and bottle of wine....there is more to explore about French as a language.

I googled schools around my residence but hardly any good ones to offer super intensive course to help me grab few significant words and sentences to help me. I do not want to master but I want to be a part of the crowd - if I ever go to a place where people speak only French.

Ofcourse, no plans of vacation but I come across this amazing portal  to learn different languages - if you want to travel and be a part of the world. I completed my first assessment. Italian was surely easy for me. But I am having fun learning this one....

Salut to enchantee/.....I picked up quite few words.....at least I can introduce myself!!

Then I started watching English Vinglish...another amazing movie. Strange - it shows an amazing story of a home maker who doesn't get due respect by Indian men but does make a place in New York. I like a dialogue by Sri devi where she tells - 'at a certain age you don't want love but you expect respect for yourself!'

I was surprised when the same man behaves nicely  to a foreign national female but weirdly to an Indian national of her own country. Pity!! I have faced this in my own life so it's really hurtful.

But Lord Ganesha leaves me with a smile to start another journey.

Good night!

Phew - Good Updates !!

It has been a crazy week after a happy weekend!

Firstly - as I love children so I attended a charitable event at a school in Bengaluru. My husband and I were thinking of the same thought when the principal asked me - if I could conduct English classes for the children. This school is funded by a Christian Missionary, and they would love to have me on the board of volunteers. There was no reason to say - 'NO'. God is great!!

I am packed with lot of work. I am cooking all three meals. I am preparing for World Peace Day Marathon (doing 25 kms daily). I am also working on Author's United Welfare Wing (Btw, wait I have a good news to share around my success story of Author's United)....few days from now. Not to forget I have enrolled for a course starting 4th Sept to enhance my writing skills. Phew!! I feel to run away....:)

In the evening - I received my certificate of 'Fifth Honorable Mention'. So another reason to be happy. But recognition and passion demands time. I have been busy with submitting my work to different journals for Haiku, Tanka, Senryu and Haiga. I am glad my work is accepted for most of them, and two of my editors have given an inspiring feedback.

You will read me in the following journals -

I am left with two journals wherein I have am yet to submit. I am yet to hear from couple of journals as I submitted my work too soon to be considered :). I have submitted my haiku for all the contests for this year. I am left with monthly contrbutions that I will pen down as I get time.

I just started a painting to add to my Kalasutra Catalogue. I am making a Ganesha using Grains. To view my Kalasutra Catalogue - please click this youtube link :
