Don't Kill Your Language - Suzanne Talhouk!!

Hmmm...interesting ted talk video. I took a break from writing and Haiku. For few weeks, I am just writing Haiku and reading lots of books around the same. One thing has changed about me - I am more political in nature. Yes, my language and my thoughts have changed as people wanted me always to be the way I am now:).....I have always enjoyed my company. I can live alone in a forest ,and all I need is a pool:). I am not a person who really need friends/family/relatives...I can dance alone, shop alone, eat alone, and travel alone. But yes one thing that always connect me to myself are books. My best friend are my books. I can read and spend hours on the couch with my books:). Maybe, I am so used to betrayals in life:).

This video is so true as we are so much living in a western culture that we have lost the touch with our language. I am no exception but still I want my readers to view this video, and think for a while - don't you think this is so true!

I think of a quote by Nelson Mandela -  If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.

Through Her Eyes Only!

I just finished writing my poem - 'I am a Survivor' as a contribution to my column in context to 'Women's Day'.

But I was reading my poems in my book - 'The Fragrance of a Beautiful Life'. I read the poem - 'Through Her Eyes Only' and I almost cried.

Brian - my friend and the 28th most popular poet in the world has left a comment for my poem that means a lot to me. It was not my day as little fights around our project and I felt hurt.

But his comments for my poem made me feel good.

Let us end this week with a thought - let a girl child be born. Say no to female feticide. Maybe, your daughter can be your eyes to make you see this world.

Wiping my tears and giving myself a smile - Happy Weekend!

WOW Moment

Dear Readers -

I am blogging after a long break. But let us start with a good news from my end.

********************************** WOW Moment  **************************

Just got an email around my submission. One of the International Anthology - Journal has shortlisted my poem - "'Woes of Spring' for their Annual Anthology. This anthology is on a global platform wherein authors from different countries and different walks of life submit their artwork and literary pieces that go through the selection process. In 2014 edition, my poem will be among all the shortlisted submissions. This poem is inspired by true life incident, and is about a farmer who is not able to harvest his crop due to drought. The poem is around the agony and despair of a farmer to see his family hungry during the season of spring - whereas the world is celebrating the harvest season, and daffodils are blooming. I have written around many prevailing issues but this is special to me as I really worked very hard on this poem. The issue is scheduled to be released in March 2014, and I will share the links on Fb and my blogs/author profiles..Thanks for reading me so far. Elated!

Yes, I am half-way through of my poem for Women's Day. I am enjoying writing Haiku these days. I have really improved and still a long way to go:)

Cheers!

Breast Cancer Survivor.........

I plan to write a poem around a breast cancer survivor - mainly their inner feelings and desire to live. I am almost done with my ground work, and I have pen down 47 lines/256 words.

I am planning to post this poem as a part of my column in FG on Women's Day - 8th March 2014. It is mandate to spread awareness about breast cancer and also to highlight a fact that it can be treated.

My poem is not about breast cancer but how a woman feels when she goes through radiations, mood swings and the journey of pain. At the same time, I end my poem on a positive note.

Think Positive. Be Happy.

Happy Monday!

Today, I wrote a Haiku around this painting of mine. A painting that brought many good memories for some seconds. I really worked hard for this painting as it was a birthday gift. I am not sure whether it was liked or appreciated but this painting was always special to me. Still unframed in my wardrobe and wrapped as a gift (:. I wrote a Haiku inspired by this painting.

Haiku Poems

FG has published my first four Haiku poems that can be read at the link below-

I have edited my work and put some of these poems on my Poemhunter Poet Profile. I am reading articles and books by Michael Dylan Welch; it really helped me to understand the science of Haiku.

It is true that most of the links are vague by many people that can misinform a beginner and also misguide. I am following his blog to understand better around Haiku. I just want to improve and the only way is by writing and writing and writing. Lot of FB Haiku forums and groups, the other Haiku poets are helping me with their valuable feedback.

As the saying goes 'practice makes a man perfect!'.

Cheers!
